Metric Seconds simplifies this process efficiently. This application allows users to effortlessly convert time to and from metric units, facilitating the measurement and consideration of time intervals in metric terms.
Metric seconds represent time quantification in seconds utilizing standard metric units known for their practicality. The epoch zero is set at midnight on January 1, 1970, acknowledged as the "beginning of time" for UNIX and various computer systems. Furthermore, metric time does not adhere to time zone differentiations, strictly following Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
In the realm of metric time, seconds stand as the fundamental unit. Subsequently, typical metric prefixes such as kilo, Mega, Giga are applied to denote multiples. The term "hecto" denotes 100 seconds, approximating a minute; a kilosecond equals 1000 seconds, correlating to around 16 minutes. Therefore, 3.6 kiloseconds equals an hour and 86.4 kiloseconds amounts to a day.
The concept of metric time has frequented science fiction narratives portrayed in notable literary works by authors like Vernor Vinge in "A Fire Upon the Deep" and "A Deepness in the Sky," Charles Stross's creations such as "Glasshouse," "Accelerando," and "Neptune’s Brood," along with contributions from Robert Forward and Iain M.
